Bottle Duty Privacy Policy
Effective: November 7, 2026
Bottle Duty is a shared baby-bottle feeding log for families, created by Dominique Johnson. Families use it to record bottles and see when the next bottle is due. This page explains, in plain language, what information the app stores and how it is used.
Information stored in a family book
When a family creates and uses a book, the app stores the information entered into that book on the app's server in its database, including:
- the baby's first name and birth weight, if entered;
- feeding entries, including amounts, times, optional notes, and what was in the bottle, such as formula or breastmilk;
- Doctor's Orders, if a parent enters them, including a feeding interval, bottle amount, daily goal, notes, and when they were updated;
- each member's display name and whether they are a parent or guest;
- a random device token used to recognize a signed-in device without a password; and
- push-notification subscription details for devices that turn on bottle-due alerts.
If you choose to send a rating or message through the app's graduation or problem-report flow, that rating or message is also stored.
How the information is used
Book information is used only to run the book: to show the family's feeding history, keep the book in sync between the family's devices, apply Doctor's Orders entered by a parent, and schedule and send bottle-due alerts. To deliver an alert, the server sends the notification to the push service associated with that device's subscription.
What Bottle Duty does not do
- It does not show ads.
- It does not sell personal information.
- It does not use third-party analytics or trackers.
- It does not track your location.
- It does not use account passwords. There are no passwords to sign in with: this device stays signed in with a random token, and each member also has a personal recovery code — the way back into the book on a new phone or browser, used together with the family code.
Who can see a book
A book is shared only with people who receive its family code and join, or who remain members after joining. Joining members start as guests. Parents can promote members and can remove members; removing a member ends that person's access while keeping their name on entries they already logged. Keep the family code private, like a house key.
Keeping or deleting a book
A family's information remains stored while its book exists, including after the family graduates and closes its book in the app. A parent may request deletion of a family's data by contacting the developer through the app's store listing / support page.
Children
Bottle Duty is for parents and other adult caregivers. A baby's information is entered by an adult; the app is not directed to children to use themselves.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page and its effective date will be updated.
